This would be lovely if it were the case but we have to bring a degree of sense, science and structure to our approach, consistently working to get your body back into healthy working order. However, one of the biggest areas of confusion is why we have symptoms in the first place. If numbing symptoms was the only thing that mattered then there would be no such thing as massage, physiotherapy, osteopathy or Chiropractic – as morphine is able to kill the symptoms of back pain or sciatica quicker than any physical therapy. It’s just important that we aren’t naive enough to think the problem has gone away if we can’t feel the pain.
Symptoms are in our body serve the purpose of letting us know that there is a significant problem – that your body is either damaged or not working properly. However, aside from trauma (car crashes, falls etc.) most symptoms are the result of your body not working properly over a period of weeks, months or years - causing it to re-build itself in a progressively sicker and more diseased state – one cell at a time until it’s so severe that symptoms occur. You see, symptoms are often the last thing to develop in the disease process and are often the first thing to disappear.
“If I’d known I was going to live this long I’d have taken better care of myself!”
– James Hubert Blake
