What is Wellness?

​​Wellness is defined as “an active process that promotes health and enhances quality of life.”

In 1961, Dr. Halbert Dumn wrote a booklet called “High Level Wellness” where he defined the term as a lifestyle approach enacted to help individuals pursue elevated states of physical and psychological well-being.
So how do you maintain a high level of wellness? The solution is to focus on your whole body, mind and spirit, not to just rid your body from disease.

Chiropractic is an important part of any wellness routine, just like working out (regular exercise) and eating right (proper nutrition). Consistency is key, because chiropractic care can treat problems before they lead to more serious issues, and it can prevent problems from developing in the first place.

By taking care of subluxations that impact your nervous system’s ability to function, you are making sure that the right signals are traveling through your nervous system to the nerves, through the muscles and organs. This makes sure that everything in your body is working the way it is supposed to and that all of the components that make up your body are getting the proper messages from your brain, through your spinal cord.

Routine chiropractic care give your body what it needs to heal itself and what you need to stay “well”.

Although we all know the way the human body is affected by stress, nutrition and exercise – why do so many people search for a “Wonder Drug” to solve a lifestyle illness?

The fact that you’ve been alive for more than a couple of weeks is proof that your body is pre-programmed to repair when damaged and regulate your muscles, organs and glands to allow you to do what you want/need to do each day.  Instead of searching for a miracle pill to cure a disease or make you “feel” better – why not focus on making your body work better from the inside out – this way you will not just “feel” great but will actually BE HEALTHY at the same time!

Taking supplements, drugs and going to the gym to make you look or feel better without maintaining your nervous system is like taking your car to the car wash to keep it shiny but never servicing it – proper maintenance extends life!

People have known for over a century now that being well adjusted improves almost every area of your health and life – now we are at a point where scientific research is starting to be able to explain the full extent of changes that occur in the performance and health of both your brain and body when your spine receives the care it wants and needs...

Dental hygiene vs Spinal hygiene

A review of 33 articles included 3110 asymptomatic (pain-free) individuals that were given MRI scans or CT scans showed spinal degeneration can happen at any age.

Spinal problems are costing the NHS £481 million per year. Dental care previously had a similar problem. A lack of dental hygiene lead to a high percentage of gum disease and tooth decay but a huge educational push and regular dental visits reduced the number significantly.

When should we start looking after our spines? When should we start a spinal hygiene push with regular chiropractic visits?

If we don’t start until the age of 20 37% will already have permanent damage. If we wait until we are 50 years of age 4 out of 5 will already have degeneration of the spine.

We look after our teeth because we want to look better, if our spines were on our face  would we take more care of it?

This study has shown that our spine can rot and wear out without us feeling pain.
